Peranakan walk @ Katong

This area on the other end of Singapore which i am very unfamiliar with. Chance upon this booklet that intro Katong/Joo Chiat and find very interesting and special buildings around this area so decided to walk like a tourist.

Went there some weeks ago with few photographer friends and cover the area nearer to Geylang side. Don't really know where we were walking actually and did not capture too much of the special and interesting architecture.

This time round, i went on my own again and there are much more colours to it, at least there is different 'theme' to both the visit.

Started the walk from Tembeling Rd after parking the car. Free parking on Sunday! Happen to see another car right behinde me with the same no. plate!!

These Peranakan culture shophouses along Koon Seng Road were before world war 2. They are very colourful and brings out a special look to the whole neighbourhood.

Unique building right?
There were shops which beings back a lot of memorise in the good old days.

Used to be so common but not now.

I just love those bamboo chairs & stools.

Though i never like to eat these but reminds me of younger days and Lantern festival is coming!

Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple (one of Singapore's oldest Indian temples). The templle was mared as a historic site by the National Heritage Board in 2003.

At both sides of Ceylon Road, coffee shops selling Nyonya Laksa! There were the few 'famous' Katong laska stalls around. I din try, cos of the hot weather and my stomach is not feeling very well.

Every stalls put up pictures of whoever celebrities that ate at their stall and even our new president TT.

There is still another area I have not covered, i just make a very quite less than 2hours walk. I will most likely come back again.
